The Portuguese as a Heritage Language course is designed for children, adolescents, and young people of Brazilian descent who grow up in multilingual contexts, where Portuguese coexists or competes with other languages.
Classes are creative, immersive, and sensitive, and are designed to:

strengthen affective bonds with the Portuguese language;

promote recognition of family and cultural history;

value Brazilian linguistic and cultural identity in dialogue with other languages and cultures.
Through projects, autobiographical narratives, music, literature, visual arts, and expressions of popular culture, students build meaning for the use of Portuguese in real and meaningful situations, respecting their individual rhythms, interests, and stages of development.
Proficiency levels
The levels take into account the learner’s previous relationship with the language and family culture, progressing from linguistic recognition to the expansion of repertoire and cultural fluency, through progressive sublevels.
Elementary
Basic
Aimed at learners with initial or fragmented contact with Portuguese, this level strengthens listening and speaking skills and promotes recognition of the language through family and cultural experiences.
Intermediate
Upper Intermediate
It deepens the use of Portuguese in different everyday situations, expanding vocabulary, linguistic structures, and cultural awareness connected to family heritage.
Advanced
Fluent
Designed for those who seek to consolidate fluency, reflect critically on the language, and strengthen linguistic and cultural identity through full use of Portuguese.
Portuguese as Additional LanguageㆍPLA
The Portuguese as Additional Language course is designed for young people and adults, speakers of other languages, who wish to learn Portuguese for cultural, academic, or professional interests, or due to the need for social integration in Brazil or in contexts where Portuguese is used.
Classes prioritize:

Learning formats
At Brasilidades, learning formats are designed to meet different goals, trajectories, and learning rhythms. Classes may be one-on-one or in small groups, ensuring qualified pedagogical support, meaningful interaction, and contextualized teaching.
Group classes
Classes in groups of up to six participants, encouraging interaction, intercultural exchange, and communicative practice, with attention to each participant’s needs.
One-on-one classes
Personalized classes planned according to each learner’s goals and linguistic trajectory, with close guidance, contextualized teaching, and flexible scheduling.
